Without apology the severely Disabled Ukrainian Children shown here do not necessarily make a pretty picture. Be that as it may, these children are deserving of our support and our love. No greater satisfaction will be found.....

Down Syndome Children

Alice Brew went to Ukraine as an adult Peace Corp Volunteer. They sent her to Vinnytsia to Naydia (Hope) a NGO school for Down Syndrome Children. Through her business skills and her art skills she taught the school and the parents that the children could learn!

Each week Alice took a turn in the class rooms where she and the students communicated in Russian, Ukrainian, and English. Especially they spoke art together and had fun.

The children began learning things no one there thought they could and they are continuing to do so. Alice is back home but continues to support her school.

If you could spare a twenty for her children please email Alice at

Photo reporting: “Heart To Heart – 3rd trip to Kalinovka and Molochansk orphanages." The report speaks for itself. On the second picture down that's Albert Pavlov on the right, seated next to him is his beautiful wife. They have a child of their own and have adopted right there in Zaporozhye where Albert takes care of the website you will or have viewed.

To make a donation everything is set up for you through PayPal by one of the
US sponsors of the Zaporozhye orphanages. Please do this: go to the PayPal link below and either log in or set up an account. Tell the system that a payment is to go to

pjanderson66@yahoo.com.

In the message box just let everyone know that the money is for the Zaporozhye Orphans Heart to Heart program. Please say hello to Albert Pavlov from ukraineorphans.net! By the way - I just sent $25.00. Ok, I went over $20.00 just to pay the PayPal expenses on the other end.

Down Syndrome Adoption Grant Ministry

"Greetings and welcome!  My name is Andrea Roberts.  I am the mother of a 5-year-old boy with Down Syndrome, and a passionate advocate for other children around the world who were born with that extra 3rd chromosome. Like
many unsuspecting birth parents, my husband and I grieved for quite some time after Reece's birth in April of 2002."

Reece's Rainbow is well worth a visit. The primary mission is supporting adoption but with links it is is concerned about the total welfare of Down Syndrome children and is educational and inspirational.

"The photo has very touching history. There is kid on a picture, who recently has no future because he has been doomed since birth. The terrible diagnosis which put kids at children's home for HIV-INFECTED children and children sick of AIDS, that is on Donechina, practically does not leave them chance....."

The growing HIV/AIDS situation in Ukraine is affecting the orphans, wrecking budgets, breaking families and lowering life expectancy.

We will have more to say about this pressing problem but for the moment please click on the photo and read the article published and translated to English in Zaporozhye, Ukraine.

Helping Disabled Orphans Worldwide

Sonia Paz Baron-Vine had a dream of making a difference in the lives of disabled orphans. Sonia is a polio survivor herself and could relate to their suffering.

After raising her three biological children, she adopted one disabled little girl with genetic malformations from Russia in 1994 and again in 1999 two disabled little boys from Ukraine,  also with genetic malformations, due to their parents exposure to the radiation cloud, that covered Ukraine from the nuclear accident of Chernobyl.

“A letter from the President”

“In
Ukraine, children with disabilities are placed in orphanages shortly after birth and remain institutionalized for life.

"Unlike in the
United States, where early intervention and therapy services help children to achieve the best possible quality of life, children with special needs in Ukraine face a grim future and a greatly reduced life expectancy.

“Staff at the orphanages need education, tools, and equipment to provide the early intervention and therapy these children need to learn, grow, and develop.”

Karen Feathers

“You can participate in this effort in a variety of ways, each of them important.”
