No child becomes
an orphan by choice. No child wants to be alone in the world. Whether they are old enough to understand their
status, or still in their cribs eagerly waiting for some affection, these kids want a Mom and a Dad more than anything else.
Across the ocean, thousands of families are ready to open up their hearts and homes to these same kids. We want
to help them find each other.
Adopting a child - just like giving birth - is a life time commitment to love, cherish,
care, worry, protect, guide, teach, support... The list goes on and on. It is not easy being a parent under any circumstances.
It is even more difficult being an adoptive parent, as world bureaucrats require you to prove your worth through strenuous
evaluation process and tedious adoption procedures.
Taking the adoption route takes strength, fortitude and bottomless
love. It involves ever-changing laws and regulations of at least two countries. It involves travel abroad to a
foreign-speaking country. Most importantly, it involves enormous emotional commitment throughout the entire adoption
process.
We salute all parents who take this road less traveled. We thank you for the honor of
helping you on this journey.

About
a Child
…making
dreams come true for one orphan at a time
“Most orphanages don’t have children closets. Slim lockers contain
all earthly possessions of an orphan – a change of clothes for a day, school books if any, and someone lucky may have
a photo or two from their ‘past life’.
“But it does not stop orphans from dreaming of ‘real presents’.
A doll, a bicycle, a new dress, they all mean so much to kids with nothing of their own. Every little wish coming true is
already a miracle.”

“Reece’s Rainbow is dedicated to rescuing orphans
abroad with Down syndrome. The ugly truth of the matter is that once these children reach a certain age, especially growing
up in institutional/orphanage settings, they get to a point where they are no longer likely to be adopted.”

of their future is heartbreaking. More video is available on our website at Kristinas Hope dot com.”

Good News
“I GOT
MY PASSPORT!!!! And JC's birth certificate came in! Tomorrow will be 2 weeks that I applied for it so it came in very
fast. :) I was looking at another week before the passport was to come in so I was pretty shocked to see it today.
“I look
goofy, but I don't care. This is what is getting me to see my little boy. :) And of course it is needed for so much of
our paperwork. Yay for some progress. Little by little - it will all get done.”

Ashley, click on the photo to read about this wonderful journey with its joy and its sadness. One will come and one will be
forced by the Ukrainian government to stay behind. The second boy badly needs an advocate before the court in Ukraine.

Christina
“A video we shot with the help of Hope for Orphans of
the World regarding our desire to adopt this beautiful Ukrainian girl,” (5gullys).
Christina was 15 when the YouTube clip was made. She had been crushed by an American woman who had written to her for two
years promising adoption – then silence. This was Christina’s last chance as she would age out of the orphanage
at 16.
I hope this worked out and she is safe, happy and
loved in a good home here in the US. I have no way of knowing. D

From the US Department of State Dear
Members of American Adoption Community Interested in Ukraine:
On
November 22, 2007 the Ministry for Family, Youth and Sports issued Decree #4137. This
Decree approves the numbers of the new adoption dossiers from foreign countries that can be accepted by the Ukrainian State
Department for Adoption and Protection of the Rights of the Child (SDAPRC) during calendar year 2008.
The Ministry
allocated 460 dossier submissions to parents from the United
States for calendar year 2008. This number was arrived at using
a formula devised by the SDAPRC. That formula considered the number of delinquent post adoption reports and the number of
Ukrainian children who will be eligible for intercountry adoption in 2008. Additionally, the total number of the dossier submissions
is divided among five categories of children, so a specific number of dossiers can be submitted for each category: ·
children under six years old
(with no siblings) – 32 dossiers ·
children from six to nine years
old (with no siblings) - 83 dossiers ·
children ten or more years
old (with no siblings) – 115 dossiers ·
sibling groups (in which one
of the children is younger than 6 years) – 92 dossiers ·
sibling groups (in which all
siblings are 6 or more years old) – 138 dossiers It appears to your ukraineorphans.net editor if one wants
to adopt from Ukraine now is the time to get busy. Siblings including older brothers
and sisters are the very best opportunity for all. D
